Explore Sioux Falls' unique history that landed the town in the center of heated national debate.

Travel back to the nineteenth century for some unique history of Sioux Falls, once dubbed "The Divorce Colony." Author April White explores the heated topic of divorce and how Sioux Falls became a booming hub for women, eventually catching national attention from churches, courts, legislatures, and the White House. 

April White is a senior writer and editor at Atlas Obscura. Her previous endeavors include editing at Smithsonian Magazine, and publications in the Washington Post, The Atavist Magazine, and JSTOR Daily. 

Join April White to discus the surprising, infuriating, and totally true story of The Divorce Colony.
